Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the blackberries with granulated sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth batter forms.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish.
  • Spoon the macerated blackberries evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar over the top for a caramelized finish.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the batter comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.
