- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Cream the Butter and Cream Cheese:
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together with a hand mixer or stand mixer until smooth and creamy.
Add the Powdered Sugar:
Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
Add Vanilla and Salt:
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Beat on medium speed until the frosting is light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
Adjust Consistency (Optional):
If the frosting is too thick, add a teaspoon of milk or cream at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Use Immediately or Store:
Use the frosting immediately to top cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Let it come to room temperature and re-whip before using.
