- 6 cups brioche bread cubed, stale or lightly toasted
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs beaten
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup raisins optional
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter for the whiskey glaze
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup whiskey for the glaze
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread cubed brioche bread evenly in the dish. Sprinkle raisins over the bread if using.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to absorb the liquid.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and whisk until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey until combined.
Drizzle the warm whiskey glaze over the bread pudding before serving. Enjoy!
