Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In an ungreased 8x8-inch baking pan, sift together the sugar, flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa powder.
  • Make three depressions in the dry ingredients. Pour the vinegar into one, the vanilla extract into the second, and the vegetable oil into the third.
  • Pour the cold water over all the ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan before serving.
